        Swedish Massage

The term "Swedish Massage" refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart.

Swedish massage was developed in the 1700's by a Swedish doctor named Per Henrik Ling.  The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles.

Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes.  It increases circulation without increasing heart load.  It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested in a regular program for stress management.  It also has many specific medical uses.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone massage is a specialty massage that uses smooth, heated stones.  They are often basalt, a black volcanic rock that absorbs and retains heat well.  It is a deeply soothing, relaxing form of massage.  The heat helps tight muscles release.

The stones are sanitized and heated in 120 and 150 degree water.  The therapist uses traditional strokes of swedish massage while holding a heated stones.  As the stone cools, the therapist replaces it with another.

The therapist might also leave heated stones in specific points along your spine, or in the palms of your hand, or even between your toes to improve the flow of energy in your body.  A hot stone massage is more expensive than a basic Swedish massage because it requires more preparation and usually runs longer.   Top of page

Reflexology

Is a science which deals with the principle that there are reflexes in the feet relative to each and every organ and all parts of the body.  Stimulating these reflexes properly can help many health problems in a natural way, a type of preventive maintenance.  Reflexology is a serious advance in the health field and should not be confused with massage.

The idea behind Reflexology is not new - in fact, it was practiced as early as 2330 B.C. by the Egyptian culture.  Reflexology as we know it today was first researched and developed by Eunice Ingham, the pioneer of this field.  Her first book on the subject was published in 1938.

And since 1942, Reflexology seminars have been conducted year round.  Only the hands are used, making it a safe, simple, yet effective method without the use of gadgets.  Let your fingers do the walking.

Hawaiian Therapeutic Massage

In l984, Mrs. Keith was introduced to Infant Massage by a licensed massage therapist at a yoga class, she explained to me that she teaches mothers infant massage at her school in California.  I became so excited when she was telling me the positive benefits of infant massage.

I knew this would be a positive plus for the teenage mothers.  I invited her to our school and she demonstrated an infant massage on one of the babies, it was so rewarding for the teen mothers to massage their baby.  I incorporated infant massage into my curriculum.

I enrolled in the Infant Massage Training Class in Tampa, Florida under the instruction of Vimala McClure, who was the pioneer trainer of Infant Massage.  I completed the training in 1984 and became a certified Infant Massage Instructor.

Stress Presentation Parties- A Stress Less Presentation Home Party is to show the guests how they can manage stress in their home.  Massage is one of the main objectives, but not only do we get a massage, we can be pampered in our homes.

The massage therapist has a drawing for a 15- minute massage in the home of the hostess.  After the massage, the therapist talks to the guests on how to be pampered in the home between their massages.  The therapist will introduce and demonstrate some of the products that he/she is selling at the party.

The guests will now have an opportunity to shop and purchase some of the products.  The hostess will receive a 30-minute gift certificate for a massage if she has a total of $200.00 from the guests' sales.  If the guests' sales totaled $300.00, the hostess will get a highger credit towards her sales and receive 60-minute gift certificate for a massage.  In some instances, the hostess receives all of her purchases for free.  If a booking for another party comes from this party, the hostess certificate will be bumped up to receive an exciting hostess gift from the therapist.  All gift certificates purchased at the party, will be bumped up to 30 more minutes, a 90-minute massage at a $60.00 value!

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BOOKING A PARTY IN YOUR HOME, PLEASE CALL THOMASENA AT 850-386-7450, THANK YOU.
